    I would like to participate in the next EFP discussion.

    Thanks,
    Melody

  2. CW Says:

    @Melody

    OK…Thank you and I will be in touch! :)

  3. E Says:

    LOVE love love Alek Wek. Thanks for posting the video of her encouraging the other African young woman. She is lovely, has a cute accent and a fine husband. I give anyone the side eye who calls her “ugly” because they are revealing themselves. I never hear most of these people call ANY non-black woman ugly, and I see ugly women who aren’t black all the time. What gives?

    Tyra, I could take or leave. She’s done some good stuff, but she’s not a sociologist or a psychologist and sometimes her shows are a big FAIL, like the one where she had the black girl up there and stage and none of the other men or the black man chose her as attractive.

  4. Miss V Says:

    Let me know when the next EFP discussion will be so that I can participate.

  5. ProfessHer Says:

    OMG: my book is here; THANK YOU!!!!!!! You’re a gem; I feel honored! :o )

  6. Rainebeaux Says:

    I too would like to be part of the next EFP discussion, please/thank you. :D

    @ProfessHer: you’re in for a treat! Consider yourself schooled, yo. :D

    This reminds me:

    I’m sending links to every BWE/IR blog–including this one–I frequent/can think of via snail mail to the BW I KNOW need to read them!*

    (Also, this stemmed from my mom saying in so many words she’d prefer to be left behind in the dating department and in general. So glad I moved it ain’t remotely funny! UGH.)

    *I don’t have/use FB (again, by design) nor do I recall their respective email addresses, so these ladies won’t know what hit ‘em…heh heh…

  7. lois Says:

    I found it interesting that the bm Ph.D. on the one hand writes articles about black hair care and it is transcribed into Korean.
    And, then he does a video about how the Koreans are talking over.

    I have never worn a wig nor a weave in my entire life and I do not buy from those types of stores. Have any of you tired to return items to these people, they give you hell. And, that is one of the major reasons I do not bother with them. As the lady from Kizure stated, “If you have to wear your hair short, then wear it short.” There is a certain freedom to wearing your hair as natural as possible.

    For heavens sake please stop dying your hair with those tacky colors. These women look like total fools. lol, they think they are looking good…Fools.

    Black hair care was the last frontier we had as far as businesses were concern.

    I said it before it is just a matter of time before Asians are opening up beauty salons for bw and we will be silly enough to go there.

  8. jubilee Says:

    I may be wrong BUT i BELILEVE it started when we started buying their hair for WEAVES..Black women wanted real straight hair and not synthetic hair..We had our own shops and products when it was just relaxers..then, someone said, black americans will pay big money for hair, and they took advantagE of it…..IM SO GLAD THE SISTERLOCKS CRAZE IS STARTING TO CATCH ON..no more buying their hair because ours isn’t ‘good’enough

  9. CW Says:

    @E

    Have you ever took a beautiful photograph, and later wanted to cut someone out?

    That’s about the size of it with this “Tyra” clip…However Alek & the other girl from Sudan were so inspirational, I had to show it…

    “I give anyone the side eye who calls her “ugly” because they are revealing themselves…. “

    I prefer the BLANK STARE myself :| :| :| :|

  10. CW Says:

    @Ms V

    We will be in touch!

  11. CW Says:

    @ProfessHer

    YOU ARE MOST CERTAINLY WELCOMED!!!!

    I hope some Law or Political Science student checks it out!

  12. CW Says:

    @Rainebeaux

    “I too would like to be part of the next EFP discussion, please/thank you. :D

    OH BELEIVE ME….WE’LL BE IN TOUCH! :D :D :D

  13. CW Says:

    @Jubilee

    Think I may have to look into those “Sisterlocks”…They’ve always caught my eye…I am just always worried about maintence/upkeep when commiting to something like that….If anyone else here has insight, please feel free to chime in~! :)

  14. CW Says:

    @Jubilee

    Sometimes I also buy my hair from “Especially Yours” ….But lately their stuff has been looking like something a dead rat would cough up :|

  15. CW Says:

    CW: Support…About a month ago, I purchaed a couple of Evia’s newsletters…

    I HAD to know the answer about introducing a “down home” relative to an upper-crust professor….Personally, if it were up to me the meeting would NOT have taken place…But that’s just me…LOL

    I am also looking for different type fo oils/moisturizers to try…There is a detangling comb featured on “Black Girl With Long Hair” that I will be purchasing soon!

  16. lois Says:

    I have been using Dr. Miracle’s relaxer, hair creame and I will be using Healing Leave in Treatment. I and my co-workers noticed mid-spring that my hair has thicken. My hair may have thicken because I try to lessen the use of chemicals. Dr. Miracle’s boast a tingling ingredient that puts me in mind of Head and Shoulders shampoo…I think that is the shampoo that tingles. Also, I use a little Africa’s Best oil on my hair after I have conditioned it.

  17. lois Says:

    “…..IM SO GLAD THE SISTERLOCKS CRAZE IS STARTING TO CATCH ON..no more buying their hair because ours isn’t ‘good’enough”

    SO VERY TRUE! OUR HAIR IS GOOD ENOUGH!

    Because of some chemical I had put into my hair last summmer my hair seemed to have broken in half. My hair was extremely short. However, I did the best I could to style it and went about my business as if my hair was the best style there was.

  18. sabrina Says:

    @CW, Lois. Hello Ladies I just wanted to suggest a few product lines that are excellent: Carol’s daughter Hair Milk also Hair Honey also the Fantasia IC products are great.

    ************

    Also another suggestion is make a bookmark(s) and/or Wordpad note for saving the links to Black women products which catch your interest!

  24. camille Says:

    I would also like to be part of the discussion. Is this how I sign up?

  25. XaiXai Says:

    Hi CW and ladies, I am a Sisterlock certified consultant for over 11 years. My own locks are over 10 years old. It is a lovely, liberating, carefree and authentic hair care technique. Incidentally; 90% of my clients either date or are married ir. Interesting isn’t it? Most of my clients with black spouses are usually bullied or talked out of the process by their black significant other. Most of the non black spouses/partners actually participate and cheer the process. Just one more example of why black women need men who celebrate their uniqueness!!

  26. HarleyQ Says:

    Just curious CW but what is the EFP discussion?

  27. CW Says:

    @Camille

    Won’t be tomorrow or anything, but I will be in touch!

  28. CW Says:

    @XaiXai

    OOOOhhhh….THANK YOUR for the feedback…I am seriously considering them myself…Doing alright growing the natural hair, but think this will enhance my look…And I love, love, love your hair Xai! I would like my Sisterlocks to be a bit on the small side…Keeping in mind hairtypes vary….I am looking to see if anyone in Oahu does them…It is frustrating to only get a webpage directory and no website though…I hate to get all the way to places and get that icky, creepy feeling…Because there have been plenty of times I had to come in and WALK RIGHT BACK OUT!

    “….Most of my clients with black spouses are usually bullied or talked out of the process by their black significant other.”

    I wonder if we will ever finish disembarking the slave ship… :|

  29. CW Says:

    @HarleyQ

    “Escape From Pompeii”

    A series of discussions with the intent of bringing attention to BIG problems which often get swept under the rug….Things that too many Black folk engage in that is non-productive…The goal is to develop a CLEAR CUT ACTION PLAN & stick with it…Not the “Do Better Next Time” pat on the head…The posts are designed to be results oriented:

    Some Past EFP Discussions:

    EFP#1: Learn To Go At It Alone Sometimes

    EFP#2:Forgiveness Does Not Negate The Repercussions! (Sorry Chester)

    @Sabrina

    Thanks…I do want to try somebody;s hair milk…If I’m not careful, my hair can get sooooo dry….In this trial & error period right now….I am trying to get my hair (all over my head) past the 7″ mark…The top of my head is like 3-4 inches and needs to catch up with the rest….

    I was watching a repeat of The View today(6/17) and I usually like Sherry; however, today Sherry was an idiot. She said, Hurricane Katrina was a natural diseaser, IT WAS NOT.
    A wm guest John Scarborough asked bm guest Steven A. Smith why are you single at 42 years old? At first Steven tired to joke his way out of the question and then he finally said something to the fact that there were too many women and men needed more time to settle down and grow up. LOL, John was wised to Steven and he said something to the effect of, “That is bull” and you may be suffering from male menopause because of his age. Good for John. Ladies noticed the difference in men? Also, Sherry answered for Steven before he could answer the question. After John asked the question to Steven, Sherry says, “That is a good thing and we are happy”. Oh, really? Steven is 42 yrs. old and was never married, the audience which was mostly white was not amused.
    Sherry said something to the effect of Steven always let other women know that he is living with someone and he has two kids. What a good example Steven is to his children.
    LOL, Sherry wonders why her husband cheated on her and got some other woman pregnant during their marriage. I think she is still trying to divorce this guy after more than a year. Sherry complaints that she has to pay him alimony. I never heard Sherry say anything about her husband having a JOB; therefore, Sherry is taking care of her husband, her son,and her husband’s child, WTF?
    WHAT AN IDIOT and I could go on. Today, she was a TOTAL IDIOT. Note to Sherry, Stop speaking for bw you dumb ______.

  32. HarleyQ Says:

    RE: EFP, Sounds interesting. I don’t mind making a contribution to the discussion of such issues when the next round starts. To forewarn you, I have a very independent, logical, reality based point of view. It’s a side effect from being a counselor :-)

  33. Vanessa F. Says:

    CW,

    Thank you for adding a link to my still-in-training wheels website and all your support! For everyone here the site is workingwhilegreen.com and focuses on 21st century career or green jobs. Ladies, the green sector are where the next titians of industry are being made. It would be awesome for Black women to make our mark in this area! In more ways than one (hint, hint!)

    I don’t know what to say about Sherry…I think folk realize by now that she is sort of naive…Common sense folk realize that she doesn’t speak for Black women….I am glad another man called Steven A Smith out on his junk….They need to bring Star Jones back (Yeah, yeah…The wedding fiasco and BGA …But “The View” isn’t about lacking ‘scandal’ )

  35. CW Says:

    @Harley!

    “……..To forewarn you, I have a very independent, logical, reality based point of view. It’s a side effect from being a counselor :D

    Just what I am looking for…Will be in touch~!

  36. CW Says:

    @Vanessa

    We all had to start somewhere….Just provide updates and I’ll pass them along!

  37. CW Says:

    More commentary l8r!~

  38. trish Says:

    I just want to say that I purchased the shima oil and it has worked wonders for me. I can now wear my own hair and I no longer have to wear a weave (former Weave Queen).

  39. CW Says:

    @Trish

    Think I will be reordering the stuff as well…The oil seems to get absorbed & not just “lay on top” like many of the others do…

  40. CW Says:

    @ The poster whose comment I’ve rejected:

    #1 Your remarks were placed in an unrelated forum

    #2 Please provide proof/links for your statements…You are already on thin ice due to prior questionable posts…Credibility is key! ;)

  41. trish Says:

    Its wonderful. My hair is growing at a very fast rate and I’m not a “mixed” person. I ordered the bottle and stared at it for three months because I didn’t want to take out my weave LOL. Finally, at the beginning of March of this year I took out the weave and decided to give my own hair a chance and boy I’m I happy I did. I would encouage anyone to purchase the product.

  42. CW Says:

    @Trish

    Yeah…Gonna give it another go in addition to the new products I’m adding~!
